Luke 1:59 “And it came to pass that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.”

Luke 1:60 “And his mother answered and said Not so; but he shall be called John.”

God is definitely waiting for our “no” so that he can act on our behalf. Whatever we say no to stands!

Friend, it’s high time you “say no” to that sickness, infirmity, frustration, barrenness, abuse, poverty and everything that is planning to give you a negative nomenclature.

If you keep quiet, situations will give you an appellation you don’t want. They would have named John after Zacharias his father, which would have been contrary to his name in destiny but for Elizabeth’s “No”. Remember:

Luke 1:13 “But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.”

In order words, those folks who knew nothing about John’s prophetic destiny would have truncated his assignment. Friend, don’t let men and situations give you a name God did not call you. A simple “NOT SO” is enough to keep the devil at bay.

Hear this:

Genesis 35:18 “And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing (for she died that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.”

Racheal named her son, Benoni; which means “the son of my sorrow” but Jacob said no and rechristened him Benjamin; meaning “the son of the right hand” or “worthy son”.

Jacob said “no” and everything turned out right for Benjamin. Few years down the line, the Tribe of Benjamin produced the first king of Israel because they were “worthy sons”. I’m sure if his name had remained Benoni (sorrow), that wouldn’t have been possible.

Nobody would want a man named Mr. Sorrow to be his king! The devil wanted a name he can capitalize on in the future of Benjamin but his father said “NO”.

Friend, what would you want to stop in your life today? What are you going to say “No” to? Your “NO” against the devil is powerful, use it!
