GATHER STICKS-2

GATHER STICKS-2
1 Kings 17:10 “So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink”

…From yesterday…

Revelations 5:10 “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”

Every born again child of God is a priest and therefore mandated to obey this law.

This law is obeyed when the priest gathers sticks and burn them on the altar daily. It is the responsibility of the priest to keep adding wood to the fire so that the fire does not go out.

Hear this:

1Kings 18:33 “And he put the wood in order and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.”

Elijah as a priest or prophet of the Most High God also obeyed this law. In his own case the Bible says, “…And he put the wood in order”, in order words, you don’t just put the wood, you must be able to arrange them in proper order and watch the fire descend. Once the fire descend, miracles will take place.

It simply means that you cannot experience a miracle without gathering stick and arranging them in order. This was the same sequence the widow of Zarephath used to birth her miracle.

Now, let’s tie it together. First what does the stick or wood represent?

John 15:1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.”

Jesus calls himself a vine, in order words the trunk or wood! It is the main stem of a tree, the chief of woods. So, Jesus is the wood. Mark you, the same Jesus Christ who is the vine is also the word of God!

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

1 Kings 17:10 “So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink”

Elijah met this widow where she was gathering sticks. Looking at it on the surface, we can interpret it to mean that she was putting together sticks to go and cook. That is correct but it carries a deeper meaning.

Everyone of us must master the act of gathering sticks. As a matter of fact, if you don’t gather sticks you cannot come out of whatever trouble you’re in. It is our primary assignment as believers to gather sticks!

Before you think I’m beginning to sound heretic or asking you to start using firewood, let’s consider some scriptures:

Leviticus 6:12 “And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings.”

Leviticus 6:13 “The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out”

There is something called the law of the burnt offering:

Leviticus 6:9 “Command Aaron and his sons, saying This is the law of the burnt offering: It is the burnt offering, because of the burning upon the altar all night unto the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be burning in it.”

This is the primary function of the priest. Every priest must obey this law. Any priest that does not obey this law daily is disobeying God and toying with trouble. This law was specifically given to the priest and if you may know, you are a priest.

Revelations 5:10 “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”

Every born again child of God is a priest and therefore mandated to obey this law.

DIVINE COINCIDENCE-3

DIVINE COINCIDENCE-3
1 Kings 17:10 “So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink”

…From yesterday…

The widow went out to fetch firewood to cook the last meal for herself and her son but ended up becoming wealthy and feeding others as well. The woman with a last meal became a distributor of food.

1 Kings 17:15 “…she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.”

The miracle took place at the gate, when she met with Elijah. That special divinely orchestrated moment is what is called the kairos moment. It was the same thing that happened to the woman who walked into the king’s chamber on the day the king and Gehazi were talking about her (2 kings 8:1-6).

There are two types of time in the Bible: One is called Chronos and the other one Kairos. Chronos is the Greek word from which we have chronology or regular time. This talks about minutes and second, which is a measurable resource.

The second type of time is what is called kairos, this means right, critical and opportune moment. It means a God ordained, appointed time or due season.

This is the moment divinity meets with humanity to birth a miracle. That is the exact moment everything in your life aligns with divine order. It is that moment that your path and the path of your destiny helpers cross. The very moment your life changes for good.

Elijah and that widow met and her life changed drastically. The day they met, the widow who has given up on life and was prepared for death started giving life to others!

That day was her kairos moment. It was the moment the rubber meets the road!

I pray for you today; that this week, you will experience several kairos moments. Divine coincidences will take place to birth your miracles. Heaven will orchestrate your meeting with the right people.

You, the people you need and the people that need you will meet. May your kairos moment take place in Jesus name.

DIVINE COINCIDENCE-2

DIVINE COINCIDENCE-2
1 Kings 17:10 “So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink”

…From yesterday…

2 Kings 8:5 “And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life”

This story is a very interesting one. If you want to talk about coincidences, this will be a classic. On a faithful day, a new king sent for Gehazi who was a servant to Elisha.

The new king wanted to know about the exploits of the prophet and was asking Gehazi. The servant was telling the king several tales but zeroed in on the story of how Elisha raised the son of a widow back to life.

As they were having this discussion, the very woman walked into the palace! This woman has been out of town for seven years but as they were talking about her she entered. She got into the presence of the king on the very day and moment she returned. That was awesome.

Friend, what we call coincidence are divinely orchestrated sequence of events that births miracles in our lives. God always goes ahead of us and put together plans to bring our desires to pass. The difficult part of this process most times is that there might be some painful experiences involved.

On our way to achieving the plans of God for our lives, the devil might show up to truncate the process, God simply takes those inputs of the devil and add to the building blocks of the miracle.

If that widow was told that morning that she was going to come out of poverty for life she wouldn’t have believed it. That meeting is what is called a kiros moment!

DIVINE COINCIDENCE-1

DIVINE COINCIDENCE-1
1 Kings 17:10 “So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink”

When Elijah got to the gate; the main entrance of Zarephath, the first person he met was the widow woman that has been commanded to feed him! That was indeed a coincidence.

When you look at it, you’ll say Elijah was very lucky, same with the woman. They just met coincidentally, they both seems to be at the right place at the right time.

That seems to be what happened, but here is the gist: In the Hebrew language there is no word like “coincidence”. The etymology of the word is from French and Latin origins. The closest the Hebrew had is a word that can be translated to mean synchronicities, which means a combination of occurrences that produce a desired result.

In order words, there are no coincidences in the realm of the spirit, everything including miracles are divinely orchestrated, carefully planned and executed by God. Our heavenly Father knows how to make situations and circumstances line up to fulfill his eternal mandate.

Elijah didn’t meet the widow at the gate by accident, heaven arranged it. God rules in the affairs of men.

Friend, God is an expert planner. The things going on in your life including the unpalatable ones are part of a divinely orchestrated scheme to birth your miracles. Imagine this:

2 Kings 8:4 “And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done”

ARISE-3

ARISE-3
1Kings 17:10 “So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink”

…From yesterday…

The other posture that men take around divine instruction is what I call disobedience. This is an outright disregard of instructions. Many people over analyze situations and they eventually refuse to arise. Any disobedience of divine instruction short circuits miracles and makes it impossible for God to help.

Psalms 23:1 “The LORD is my shepherd I shall not want”

Psalms 23:2 “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”

Psalms 23:3 “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

I discovered from Psalms 23 that most of us pray the promises without taking heed of the instructions. David shows us clearly that instructions when obeyed connects us to an unending flow of miracles.

We can deduce conclusively that the LORD is only a shepherd to anyone he can lead. If you refuse to obey him; you will be in want, you will not see green pastures talk more of lying down there. You will also suffer drought.

Psalms 19:9, 11 “…the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous…by them is thy servant warned and in keeping of them there is great reward.”

The believer’s reward is tied to the instructions of God he follows.

Elijah arose and went immediately to Zarephath and that motion brought him into a place of endless miracles during famine.

There are three key areas where you must arise: You must rise spiritually, mentally and physically. You receive instructions from God in your spirit man. You process and comprehend it in your mind then execute it in the physical.

Until your spirit moves, your mind will not, neither will your body. You must understand the progression.

So, rise today, spiritually, mentally and physically and watch your miracles happen!

ARISE-2
1Kings 17:10 “So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink”

…From yesterday…

If Elijah had delayed; he might eventually get to Zarephath only to realize that the woman had had the last dinner with her son or are even dead. Delayed obedience could terminate miracles!

Many times when we delay, miracles pass us by and we come to the conclusion that God has not answered our prayer. Timing is critical to encountering the supernatural and you must never forget that.

At other times many people modify God’s instructions; they try to adjust it based on their own convenience, timing and understanding. Modifying a divine instruction is tantamount to disobedience as far as God is concerned. You cannot be smarter than God, if He says go to Zarephath don’t go to Jerusalem. Let me show you a man:

Genesis 11:31 “And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.”

The man Terah who happened to be the father of Abram set out for Canaan with his family, but he modified his dream along the line. He got to Haran and settled there. The place looks a bit comfortable and he felt why go to the Promised Land when this place looks “great”? This is how he ended:

Genesis 11:32 “And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.”

He died without getting to Canaan which is the Promised Land. Saul modified divine assignment as well and lost the throne to David.

Beloved, don’t let situations and circumstances make you modify your divine goals, maintain focus and never quit till you get to the Promised Land.

ARISE-1

ARISE-1
1Kings 17:10 “So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink”

Immediately Elijah finished receiving instructions from God, the Bible says, he arose. It is interesting to note that Elijah rose up and set about his journey without delay. He didn’t over analyze things, he just got up.

The word “arose” as used here is translated to mean he performed. There was a performance after the instruction. He didn’t stay back, he added action to what he was told.

The challenge of many believer is not that God didn’t speak. God spoke, they heard him, they knew what to do but they wouldn’t do it. It doesn’t matter how much you love God and how much you need a way out of your challenges, until you act, your miracles remain suspended.

God doesn’t bail a man out of situations by wishful thinking, He gives succinct instructions and expects total commitment and adherence to the instructions given. Elijah enjoyed supernatural intervention while at the lake. He was fed by ravens, so he might as well sit back and ask God to send another raven, but rather he rose up and went to Zarephath.

There are about three things men do with God’s instruction that stalls miracles. They delay obeying it, they modify it and they disobey it. Those are three levels of disobedience and I want to submit to you that if you operate within the ambience of any of these, you will not see miracles.

Beloved, most times the instructions of God might not make natural sense, the conditions around you might not even look perfect but once God ask you to move, get at it quickly. Miracles are always tied to prompt obedience.

If Elijah had delayed; he might eventually get to Zarephath only to realize that the woman had had the last dinner with her son or are even dead. Delayed obedience could terminate miracles!

HELP OF THE HELPLESS

HELP OF THE HELPLESS
1 Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”

A widow in Israel is usually considered to be helpless. This is one of the most demeaning situation someone can be in. This woman lost her husband which in Israel means her cover. Her defense and of course her support.

The word widow as used here means “desolate place”, “discarded”, “forsaken”, “tongue-tied” and “forced to be silent”. Those are very interesting words.

When you consider those interpretations critically, it shows that it is not just about a woman losing her husband, it depicts the situation of many people.

To be widowed as used here refers to someone who is in a desolate or deserted place. It means someone whom others have discarded, abandoned and forsaken. It also refers to someone who has lost his or her voice. A man or woman who has been tongue-tied or forced to be silent.

There are situations in life that can force a man into perpetual silence while still alive. Situations that makes a man feel forsaken and abandoned. This is definitely a very precarious situation.

The condition of this woman was very bad and pathetic. All hope might seems lost for you and your situation but I have news for you, there is One who is called the Help of the helpless. His name is God Almighty. As a matter of fact He loves to help so much that He is called Help! The name Eliezer means my God is help.

Exodus 18:4 “And the name of the other was Eliezer; for the God of my father, said he, was mine help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh:”

Beloved, I am glad to introduce you to Him. Men may forsake and give up on you, but He never will. Can you imagine Him raising a prophet to go help a poor widow?

He never fails nor abandon His own. He is ever true to His promises. Guess what? All you need do is call and He will show up, He is forever mindful of us! He has His mind full of us!

IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU-3

IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU-3
1 Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”

…From yesterday…

Hear this:

Luke 6:38 “Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again”

When he said give, it is so that it can be given back unto you. It is not about Him, it is about us. God doesn’t spend cash! If you come to that place where you know that every instruction of God is for your wellbeing, it becomes very easy to walk with Him.

Proverbs 10:22 “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich and he addeth no sorrow with it.”

His blessings are designed to make us rich, not Him. Nothing we do can change Him or make Him better. He is already God; always God and will always and forever be God. He’s unchanging and unmovable, that’s why He is God!

The only thing God thinks about all day long is how to make us better, comfortable and have an unending supply of miracles.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Jeremiah 29:11 “I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.” (GNB)

I’m glad I serve this wonderful God. I’m so happy knowing that He’s always thinking about you and I. No other God does that. When you come to this realization serving Him, obeying His instructions and following Him becomes very easy.

This widow obeyed God, fed the prophet even when it doesn’t make sense but at the end of the day, it paid off. She never recovered from the miracle.

What instruction of God have you been stalling on? It’s high time you go do it, no matter how difficult it seem.
