Luke 1:59 “And it came to pass that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.”

Luke 1:60 “And his mother answered and said Not so; but he shall be called John.”

Our focal scripture says, “…they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.” We saw from yesterday’s meditation that the people who came for the naming decided that they must continue with the old trend and were almost getting away with it but for Elizabeth.

Elizabeth rose up and said, “Not so”. There is a power in the mouth of man, called the power of NO. Anyone that knows how to utilize this power, will always be above and ahead.

The reason why many things are going wrong in the life of many people is because they have never really stood up to the challenges and opposition. Many people uses their “Yes” far more than they use their “No”.

It is also sad in the sense that, part of using your “yes” is when you keep quiet when you’re supposed to speak up. Silence in most instances simple means I concur or agree. That is the reason why the devil has been having a field day in many lives and destinies.

We were not asked to keep quiet in the face of demonic opposition and assaults, we were commanded to resist:

James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

James 4:7 “So let God work his will in you. YELL A LOUD NO to the Devil and watch him scamper.” (MSG) (Emphasis mine)

When you yell a loud no to the devil, he will flee. Hear what Jesus said:

Matthew 16:19 “And that’s not all. You will have complete and free access to God’s kingdom, keys to open any and every door: no more barriers between heaven and earth, earth and heaven. A yes on earth is yes in heaven. A no on earth is no in heaven.” (MSG)

God is definitely waiting for our “no” so that he can act on our behalf. Whatever we say no to, stands!
