Nehemiah 2:17 “Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.”
Nehemiah 2:18 “Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said Let us rise up and build So they strengthened their hands for this good work.”
Matthew 15:13 “But he answered and said Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted shall be rooted up”
Whatever God has not planted in our lives must be removed. We must rise up and build. God will make all the provisions available but he will not come down to do the building.
Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
Genesis 1:2 “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”
In Genesis 1:1-2, God Himself had a major challenge. The world which he had made was ruined by the enemy. It was indeed a complete mess. When you study from Genesis 1:3 downwards we began to see how God started speaking and things began to take shape, but beloved if you think God just spoke and everything happened, you’ve not studied your Bible well. Hear this:
Genesis 2:1 “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished and all the host of them.”
Genesis 2:2 “And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made”
Job 38:4 “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?…”
Job 38:5 “Who hath laid the measures thereof…who hath stretched the line upon it?”
Beloved, when God saw the devastation he spoke words, almost equivalent to our prayers and confession of faith, He then rolled up His sleeves and got down to work!
