DEMONIC DEALS -3

DEMONIC DEALS -3
1 Samuel 11:1 “Then Nahash the Ammonite came up and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.”

…From yesterday…

The devil didn’t mince words, he gave them two conditions. One: to remove and give him their right eyes. Two: they must accept shame and disgrace. Those are the things the devil has to offer and remember, you cannot give what you don’t have!

The devil went for their jugular. He wanted to completely put them to shame.

Friend, I want you to know that many people kept cutting deals with “Nahash” daily; directly and indirectly. How you may ask?

When you agree to give a token so that you can win that contract, you’re cutting a demonic deal! When you agree to “do anything” to win the favour of your boss and get that job especially as a lady, you cutting a deal with the devil.

When you’re ready to join that cult, do the sacrifice, visit that “baba” (herbalist) or use that “harmless charm”, you’re already cutting a deal with Nahash.

Beloved, don’t be too much in a hurry chasing shadows. It is only the blessing of the Lord that makes rich without adding sorrow (Proverbs 10:22). Every other channel might make rich but be prepared for the sorrow! Hear this:

Proverbs 28:20 “A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent”

Psalms 16:4 “Those who rush to other gods bring many troubles on themselves. I will not take part in their sacrifices; I will not worship their gods.” (GNB)

Don’t make haste, don’t invite problems into your life. Any deal with the devil is an invitation to destruction. Be wary of those seemingly little “innocent” deals. The devil once tried to cut deals with Jesus but didn’t succeed.

Matthew 4:8 “Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;”

DEMONIC DEALS-2

DEMONIC DEALS-2
1 Samuel 11:1 “Then Nahash the Ammonite came up and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.”

…From yesterday…

God parted the Red sea and River Jordan for the children of Israel. These folks saw the wonders of God in unimaginable ways. The sun and the moon even stood at attention, refusing to set just because of them.

Now, Nahash the Ammonite threatened them and they went bowing, how sad! These men were clearly suffering from identity crisis.

When a man loses his identity in Christ, he serves and cut deals with his enemies. The problem however is that deals with the devil are usually terrible and unpalatable. The devil does not understand the language of mercy.

Everyone that has ever tried to cut deals with the devil have lived to regret it. Deals with the devil enslaves and destroys. The only thing the devil has to give are theft, death and destruction (John 10:10). When you want to cut deals with him, be mindful of these facts.

Let’s take a look at how their deal with the devil played out:

1Samuel 11:2 “And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, On this condition will I make a covenant with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and lay it for a reproach upon all Israel.”

1Samuel 11:2 “Nahash answered, “I will make a treaty with you on one condition: I will put out everyone’s right eye and so bring disgrace on all Israel.”” (GNB)

1Samuel 11:2 “Nahash said, “I’ll make a treaty with you on one condition: that every right eye among you be gouged out! I’ll humiliate every last man and woman in Israel before I’m done!”” (MSG)

The devil didn’t mince words, he gave them two conditions. One: they should remove and give him their right eyes. Two: they must accept shame and disgrace.

Those are the things the devil has to offer and remember, you cannot give what you don’t have!

The devil went for their jugular. He wanted to completely put them to shame.

DEMONIC DEALS-1

DEMONIC DEALS-1
1 Samuel 11:1 “Then Nahash the Ammonite came up and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.”

When Nahash the Ammonite besiege Jabeshgilead, the men of that town decided in their myopic mind to do something they felt will bail them out.

Rather than confront the devil, they chose an “easy way” out. They decided to do a deal with the devil! Those men went to Nahash and asked him to make a covenant with them.

They didn’t consult God; no fasting, no prayers, they went straight to the devil and asked for a truce. To make matters worse, they promised to serve him!

These folk’s minds have been so bastardized that they have lost their identity. The have become so debased in their thinking that they believe cutting a deal with the enemy will save them. They forgot everything that God had said about them.

They were only concerned about their immediate comfort. They never put up a fight nor challenge the decision of the enemy. They went to Nahash like a sheep been lead to the slaughter. There was no resistance nor fight.

How come this God’s precious people descend so low? They have completely forgotten their identity. Hear this:

Deuteronomy 11:25 “There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.”

Psalms 44:2 “How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out”

Can you imagine all what God said about them? God already told them that no man will be able to stand before them. He told them that nations will fear them, not the other way round!

These are men whom God parted the red sea for. Men who had seen the wonders of God in unimaginable ways, yet they went to beg the enemy, how sad!

NAHASH-4

NAHASH-4
1 Samuel 11:1 “Then Nahash the Ammonite came up and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.”

…From yesterday…

Friend, the devil knows what he is doing, the question is, do you?

As believers we must be able to see beyond the confusion and identify the operation of Nahash for what it is.

We cannot afford to be ignorant of the devices of the enemy! Hear this:

John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal and to kill and to destroy I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

The devil is unleashing mayhem upon the earth presently and the only thing we can see all around are people’s stolen health, death of many and destruction of lives, economies and nations.

It is high time we rise up in the place of prayers and push the enemy back. Saul eventually rose up against Nahash and stopped the onslaught against Israel. We have the same mandate to do likewise.

Nahash the serpent wanted to kill, destroy and if possible annihilate Israel but he was stopped when Saul and the people of Israel rose up. Beloved, it is high time we follow suite.

The interesting thing is that we have Jesus on our side and that is the greatest comfort of the believer. Having Jesus is our strength, defense and security. Why do I say this?

Philippians 2:9 “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:”

Philippians 2:10 “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;”

I say that with all authority because every name that is named must bow to the name of Jesus. Nahash, Ammonite, Goliath, Pharoah and the likes in history all bowed to the name. That implies that every virus and COVID-19 must bow too.

I pray for you today, whatever name the devil has been using to harass you will bow today in Jesus name!

NAHASH-3

NAHASH-3
1 Samuel 11:1 “Then Nahash the Ammonite came up and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.”

…From yesterday…

Nahash the Ammonite came up and encamped or besiege Jabeshgilead.
The word Nahash is a Hebrew word which means; “serpent”, “to charm”, “to cast a magic spell” or to “hiss”. While the word Ammonite means “to flock” or “troop”.

Put differently, when the Bible says Nahash the Ammonite came against them, it was saying; the serpent (whom we know is the devil) came against them like a flock or swarm of bees. He came with a great host to bombard them.

But, glory be to God, we can take solace in what the Word already said about such an attack. Hear this:

Isaiah 59:19 “So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.”

I want you to know that the Spirit of God is still very much at work and when we call upon Him in prayer and supplication He will lift His standard against this menace and it will become a thing of the past.

It will also interest you to know that our focal scripture says it encamped against Jabeshgilead.

The word Jabeshgilead means “heap of testimony” or “spring of water”. In order words, the besiegement of the enemy against a man, people or place is to prevent their testimony from showing forth and make them dry and unproductive.

The scenario in the story is reminiscent of what is currently happening in our world. The enemy want to cripple and make dry the economy of the world and lives.

Nahash, that word sounds like “harsh” as well, came to stop your testimony from manifestation. This demonic force knew that Saul has the capacity to become a great king, so he came to stop him.

Friend, the devil knows what he is doing, the question is, do you?

NAHASH-2

NAHASH-2
1 Samuel 11:1 “Then Nahash the Ammonite came up and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.”

…From yesterday…

Friend, perhaps you have been anointed and ordained for a particular task and assignment but you’re feeling jittery and inadequate, you’re not alone, it has happened to several people but they got past their fears and became great.

How did Saul overcome his initial fears? He became acceptable when he conquered Nahash! Who is Nahash?

Nahash is an enemy. He represents an obstacle, a challenge or contrary situation that confronts a man, not to destroy him but rather to bring out the fight in him; give him his throne with honour and dignity.

The Bible says in our focal scripture that Nahash the Ammonite came up and encamped against Jabeshgilead.

To encamp means to be positioned against. A synonym of the word encamp is besiege. It means to surround a place, stronghold or city with an army in order to bring about its surrender or capture. It also means to harass somebody, something or organization with insistent demands or complaints in order to force it to do a particular thing which he will not do normally.

This is an old military strategy put in place to force a surrender. Presently our world is under a siege from the COVID-19 pandemic. This virus has forced several towns and cities into a lockdown.

Many economies have been grounded; education, businesses and other activities have become stalled due to this pandemic. The world is under siege and we must understand what the enemy is doing.

We must all rise up and fight back in prayers, fasting and confession of the word. God want “Sauls” to arise and take their places in destiny. The siege is broken in Jesus name!

Nahash the Ammonite came up and encamped or besiege Jabeshgilead.

The word Nahash is a Hebrew word which means; “serpent”, “to charm”, “to cast a magic spell” or to “hiss”. While the word Ammonite means “to flock” or “troop”!

NAHASH-1

NAHASH-1
1 Samuel 11:1 “Then Nahash the Ammonite came up and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.”

In the next couple of meditations, we are going to be studying a very interested story of how Saul eventually became acceptable as king. After he was ordained and anointed most people in Israel didn’t like his choice and will not cooperate with him.

1 Samuel 10:24 “And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted and said God save the king.”

1 Samuel 10:27 “But the children of Belial said How shall this man save us? And they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace”

Some people even hated him with passion. They refused to recognize his authority and didn’t give him gifts, which was customary in their days. Such was the plight of Saul.

However, you will not blame some of those folks because even Saul himself ran away on the day of his ordination!

1 Samuel 10:21 “When he had caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their families, the family of Matri was taken and Saul the son of Kish was taken and when they sought him, he could not be found”

1 Samuel 10:22 “Therefore they enquired of the LORD further, if the man should yet come thither. And the LORD answered Behold, he hath hid himself among the stuff.”

It took God releasing the gift of word of knowledge upon Samuel to fetch Saul out before he could be ordained. The young man was naïve, untested and lacked confidence.

Friend, perhaps you have been anointed and ordained for a particular task and assignment but you’re feeling jittery and inadequate, you’re not alone, it has happened to several people but they got past their fears and became great.
