NAHASH-3
1 Samuel 11:1 “Then Nahash the Ammonite came up and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.”

…From yesterday…

Nahash the Ammonite came up and encamped or besiege Jabeshgilead.
The word Nahash is a Hebrew word which means; “serpent”, “to charm”, “to cast a magic spell” or to “hiss”. While the word Ammonite means “to flock” or “troop”.

Put differently, when the Bible says Nahash the Ammonite came against them, it was saying; the serpent (whom we know is the devil) came against them like a flock or swarm of bees. He came with a great host to bombard them.

But, glory be to God, we can take solace in what the Word already said about such an attack. Hear this:

Isaiah 59:19 “So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.”

I want you to know that the Spirit of God is still very much at work and when we call upon Him in prayer and supplication He will lift His standard against this menace and it will become a thing of the past.

It will also interest you to know that our focal scripture says it encamped against Jabeshgilead.

The word Jabeshgilead means “heap of testimony” or “spring of water”. In order words, the besiegement of the enemy against a man, people or place is to prevent their testimony from showing forth and make them dry and unproductive.

The scenario in the story is reminiscent of what is currently happening in our world. The enemy want to cripple and make dry the economy of the world and lives.

Nahash, that word sounds like “harsh” as well, came to stop your testimony from manifestation. This demonic force knew that Saul has the capacity to become a great king, so he came to stop him.

Friend, the devil knows what he is doing, the question is, do you?
