DIVINE SAVINGS ACCOUNT-1
2Kings 20:2 “Then he turned his face to the wall and prayed unto the LORD, saying,”

2Kings 20:3 “I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.”

I am not a banker, but I understand the term “savings account.” A savings account is a deposit account held at a financial institution that provides security for your principal and a modest interest rate.

It is also a safe place to put your money when you can’t afford to lose any or think you’ll need it in an emergency. With modern-day technology, you can withdraw from it at any time.

What has this got to do with our devotional?

King Hezekiah turned to God and made some interesting utterances, and God didn’t deny him his requests. Put differently, This King made a withdrawal from his deposit account with the Divine Himself, and it was instantly credited to him.

Let’s trace back a little and look at history:

2Kings 18:1 “Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea, son of Elah, king of Israel, that Hezekiah, the son of Ahaz, king of Judah, began to reign.”

King Hezekiah was from a royal bloodline. He was the son of one of the most terrible kings in Israel, King Ahaz. He was royalty, but his ancestry was very terrible.

2Kings 16:2 “Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he ruled for sixteen years in Jerusalem. He didn’t behave in the eyes of his GOD; he wasn’t at all like his ancestor David.”

2Kings 16:3 “Instead, he followed in the track of the kings of Israel. He even indulged in the outrageous practice of “passing his son through the fire”–a truly abominable act he picked up from the pagans GOD had earlier thrown out of the country.”

2Kings 16:4 “He also participated in the activities of the neighborhood sex-and-religion shrines that flourished all over the place.”

Ahaz made the A-list of abominable kings in Israel.
