THE REVEALER-1

THE REVEALER-1
2Kings 20:1 “In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die and not live.”

2Kings 20:2 “Then he turned his face to the wall and prayed unto the LORD, saying,”

In the next couple of meditations, we will be considering the story of the great King Hezekiah as we pick some vital lessons.

In our focal scripture, Hezekiah was sick unto death, which means the likelihood of survival was very slim. The Prophet Isaiah was then sent to him to let him know what to do and what to expect. God gave specific instructions to Isaiah, and he delivered them.

It was not palatable information, but Isaiah had to deliver it. One of the things we enjoy as believers is what i call divine revelation or in the Greek “apokalypsis”.

Apokalypsis means the unveiling of secrets. It means to make known, disclose, divulge, or reveal a secret. To lay open, to view, display, or exhibit. Apocalypse is a literary genre in which a supernatural being reveals cosmic mysteries or the future to a human intermediary.

The Revelation is in this category. As a matter of fact, the Book of Revelation is referred to as the Apocalypse of John the Beloved. It contains several details of what will happen in the future as well as other important information for believers.

The main purpose of an apocalypse, however, is not to scare us or cause us to fall into depression; its primary purpose is to warn us in advance, especially of impending danger, and help us know what to do.

Many people receive such revelations and start to panic. The truth is that the revelation comes from a Revelator who is God Almighty Himself; remember, he was the one who told Isaiah what would happen and then sent him to Hezekiah.

Look at how a heathen King described “our Father” to Daniel:

Daniel 2:47 “The king answered unto Daniel and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.”
