Nehemiah 3:1 “Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they builded the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel.”

…From yesterday…

The second thing the sheep gate represents is our followership and obedience to God. Hear this:

John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:”

John 16:13 “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear that shall he speak and he will shew you things to come”

One beautiful thing we enjoy as sheep of Christ is guidance. If you are in this world without guidance and direction, you will operate like a blind man all through the journey of life.

Every sheep that enters through the gate are led. Once you enjoy divine leading, your journey will become smooth because no matter what happens you’re sure to arrive at your destination with the required result. Every authentic sheep follows the voice of the shepherd through the sheep gate.

The sheep never bothers to look for what to eat neither do they lack anything. They know that it is the responsibility of the shepherd to meet their needs!

The third thing I want us to note is that, every sheep that follows the voice of the shepherd through the sheep gate dwells in safety. It is the obligation of the shepherd to defend and protect every sheep within his jurisdiction. David knew that so well:

Psalms 23:1 “The LORD is my shepherd I shall not want”

Psalms 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

It doesn’t matter the valley you’re going through as long as it is the voice of the shepherd you’re following, no evil can befall you. There is always safety for the obedient sheep.
