IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU-2
1 Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”

…From yesterday…

Friend, hear me well; the plan of God is not just to bless us but much more to make us a blessing! Until we come to a place where we become distributors of blessings, we are not truly blessed!

You must know that God has kept the sustenance of many people in your own sustenance. If you refuse to obey God and do your divine assignment, it is not just you that will suffer but the people that God has connected to you, never you forget that.

Beloved, God has us in mind and will go to any length to meet our needs. If he needed to move prophets, bishops, pastor, millionaire, billionaire or even a whole city just to solve the problem of a helpless child of His, He will do it. Hear this:

Luke 4:25 “But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;”

Luke 4:26 “But unto none of them was Elias sent save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.”

God didn’t send Elijah to any other widow but to this particular one. I want to believe that this widow knows God and was prayerful. I came to that conclusion because the Bible says:

1Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”

The word commanded as used here also mean to discuss and give instructions to a messenger. That means she met with God somewhere, probably in the place of prayer and God gave her the instruction to sustain Elijah.

One thing you must know is this, every instruction of God is meant for our good. God is okay by Himself, he doesn’t need man to be God! Hear this:

IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU-1
1 Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”

Here is something else that shocked me to the marrow in the story of Elijah and the widow of Zarephath: All the instructions and journey of the man of God to Zarapath was not about Elijah it was really about the widow and her son!

This miracle to me was more about this widow woman than about Elijah. Come to think of it this way:

1 Kings 17:4 “And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.”

1 Kings 17:5 “So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.”

1 Kings 17:6 “And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.”

When Elijah declared the famine, it caught up with him as well but God stepped in. God took Elijah to the brook Cherith and commanded ravens to feed him. It is said that ravens are the stingiest and meanest of birds yet God used them to feed his stranded prophet.

If God could do that, it will only be logical to think that, when the great prophet Elijah finished drinking the whole river, God could have commanded the water to flow again. He could as well use doves, eagles or even another set of ravens but of all the options opened to God, He chose to move Elijah to Zarephath!

Obviously, it was not about Elijah, it was about the “dying” widow and her son. God saw them, heard their cry and decided to visit them. He moved an embodiment of miracles to their domain, by name prophet Elijah!

Friend, hear me well; the plan of God is not just to bless us but much more to make us a blessing! Until we come to a place where we become distributors of blessings, we are not truly blessed!

UNLIKELY AND UNCOMMON HELP-3

UNLIKELY AND UNCOMMON HELP-3
1 Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”

…From yesterday…

Friend, discernment is the name of the game! That is, the ability to see with your spiritual eyes. The grace to recognize what God can do with seemingly nothing.

Elijah rose up and went to Zarephath in search of a widow woman and he met his blessing. Oh, how many things we have lost just because we neglected and commonise our divine help.

Aaron and Mariam got to a point where they commonise Moses. They felt they are better qualified to be priests and prophets (Number 12). I’m sure all what was in Miriam’s mind was the picture of the day she took him in a basket to river Nile. She didn’t know that God has moved the little Moses into another realm.

Beloved, operate with discernment, that is a potent gift a believer cannot do without. If there is any prayer we must pray daily, it is that; “Lord, I receive grace to meet my destiny helpers and also receive discernment of spirit to recognize them”.

The problem of the Pharisees and Sadducees was that they didn’t discern Jesus. They even went ahead to plot against him and eventually murdered him. They did same to Joseph. It seems to me that men just like killing their future helpers!

As a believer, you must come to the understanding that God can keep your miracle in the hand of anybody. A little slave girl helped the mighty, rich and powerful Naaman recover from leprosy. A young despised shepherd boy bailed out a whole nation, including giant king Saul from the hand of Goliath.

We all must learn to operate with superior spiritual intelligence and vision. Sensitivity is paramount for continual flow of the divine and miracles in our lives.

Don’t ever come to a place where you realize that someone you’ve neglected and disregarded is actually the person destined to help you. Listen to the Holy Spirit every step of the way!

UNLIKELY AND UNCOMMON HELP-2

UNLIKELY AND UNCOMMON HELP-2
1 Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”

…From yesterday…

Friend, the major challenge of many of us believers is that, we try to reason out God.

The Holy Spirit once told me that, “Son, when you try to reason out your miracle, you limit and frustrate me!” That was profound! I was scared. I have since learnt my lesson.

Hear me, too much analysis will always lead to paralysis. All through scriptures we saw God doing some things that bewilders the normal, natural human mind. No wonder Paul said:

1Corinthians 1:27 “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;”

1Corinthains 1:27 “God purposely chose what the world considers nonsense in order to shame the wise, and he chose what the world considers weak in order to shame the powerful.” (GNB)

You simply cannot beat God at His game. Our smartness is insignificant and inconsequential when it comes to what God want to do and whom he want to use. All we need do is believe and cooperate with Him. Hear what men said about Jesus:

John 1:46 “And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see”

It was more like saying, nothing good can come out of Nazareth and unfortunately he was not referring to any other but God Himself. Many people are stagnated in life because they didn’t recognize the person that God sent to them.

The wise men were probably called wise because they came to pay homage to a baby born inside a manger. A child that was born to some folks that used a manger as maternity home. What of if after seeing the star of Jesus they refused to enter the manger?

They could have reasoned that kings are supposed to be born in 7-star hospitals, but they saw beyond that, they discerned the King of kings!

UNLIKELY AND UNCOMMON HELP-1

UNLIKELY AND UNCOMMON HELP-1
1 Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”

When Elijah became “broke” by the brook; God told him to go to Zarephath which was in the region of Zidon. The most appalling part of the instruction is the person he was supposed to go and meet. He was asked to go meet a widow.

Immediately Elijah got the instruction, he set out without thinking twice. I initially thought he envisaged going to meet a wealthy widow. He must have thought that for God to send him to a widow, the woman must be wealthy but when he finally met the woman his reaction showed that he was simply obeying God.

Elijah didn’t care who he was sent to as long as it was God asking him to go. I love the obedience, faith and courage of this man. As long as he was sent to a widow, he moved; to him widow is widow either rich or poor.

Here is where I am going: Your helper can come in any form, shape, size, complexion, height, sex or appearance. That he or she doesn’t appear with the latest car or designer clothe doesn’t mean your help is not in his or her hand.

Our calculation, judgment, analysis and computation is insignificant when God is involved. God can use anyone and anything for us, the earlier you allow that sink in, the better for you. Hear Jesus:

Luke 3:8 “It’s your life that must change, not your skin. And don’t think you can pull rank by claiming Abraham as ‘father.’ Being a child of Abraham is neither here nor there–children of Abraham are a dime a dozen. God can make children from stones if he wants.” (MSG)

Do you understand that scripture at all? The Bible says that, God can convert stones into living breathing children for Abraham! The truth is that if we were told that it was stone that became Isaac, we would have believed and glorify God.

Friend, the major challenge of many of us believers is that, we try to reason out God.

COMMANDED BLESSINGS

COMMANDED BLESSINGS
1 Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”

Here is a part I love so much; the Lord did not advise the widow woman to sustain Elijah, neither did He give her a suggestion. God commanded her! In order words, she was coerced, compelled or even forced.

Beloved, I have news for you, there is something called a “commanded blessing”, it is such a blessing that have no choice but to gravitate towards you. Even the people that holds it have no choice but to release it.

It doesn’t matter who is holding unto what God has promised you, they must release it. Those holding your success, next level, business, finances, promotion and breakthrough must release it. Your commanded blessing will no longer be delayed in Jesus name.

All what God was doing by sending Elijah to Zarephath was to prepare ground for the commanded blessing. The purification, refining and pursuit were all geared towards his sustenance. There is a commanded blessing ahead of you and you must get it.

If anybody is to sustain Elijah, naturally it cannot be such a widow woman. There are multi-millionaire widows who could easily sustain Elijah but this woman clearly does not fall into that category. She and her son had only one meal left, so releasing it was definitely not an option but she did eventually.

She released it because she had been commanded! Friend, God has commanded some people concerning your situation and today, you will meet them in Jesus name. They will have no choice but to help you.

All you need do is to recognize them and for your paths to cross. Once you obey God, you cannot but walk into commanded blessings. You however need discernment to know your helpers and not commonize them, no matter how they look.

I pray for you today; as you step out, you will walk into commanded blessings. Sons of men will not deny you your portion in Jesus name.

You and the people that carry what you need and need what you carry will meet in Jesus name.

DWELL THERE

DWELL THERE
1 Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”

The next instruction of God to Elijah was to dwell there in Zarephath. He was not told to pass through or visit, the command was to dwell.

To dwell mean to establish, to remain, endure, establish or become an inhabitant of a place. Friend, the good of a land belong to the dwellers. You cannot brisk through a place and expect the best of the place. To dwell requires perseverance and great patience.

What you want in a place will require some patience on your part. It takes time for seed to become fruits and for labour to turn to harvest and results.

Many people want things but are too much in a hurry to get it. Impatience is a weapon the devil uses to frustrate the result and harvest of men. Dwellers of a place are the ones that understands the terrain and knows where the riches are.

Patience is a fruit of the Spirit and every believer is mandated to develop it. You will not travel far with God if you lack this virtue. The best of the best of God belong to men who have stayed with Him through faith and patience.

Hebrews 6:12 “That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

Any faith that doesn’t operate with patience will end in futility, it is like chasing the wind. Hear David:

Psalms 92:13 “Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.”

David said it is those that are planted or established that will flourish. You can’t keep uprooting stuff, moving from place to place and expect flourishing; it just doesn’t work that way.

You will hear people say that business is not profitable and you ask them for how long did you run it? They tell you one week!

Friend, dwellers are ready to weather the storm and work the work until it works out. Dwell there till you see the result, it shall end in praise!

ZIDON

ZIDON
1 Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”

God didn’t just ask him to go to Zerephath, he said the one that belong to Zidon. The word Zidon means to “chase”, “hunt” and “take provision”.

Hear what a man of God said, “Pursuit is the proof of desire”. What you don’t hunt and chase after cannot be conquered. Elijah was commanded to go after what he wanted which was located in Zarephath. You must chase down what belongs to you.

What Elijah needed was kept in Zerephath in the hands of a woman, if he chose to remain by the dried up Brook he might have died there. What you need is somewhere, and you must rise up and go after it.

I’ve seen and met many people who desired so many wonderful things; they love God, they have great visions and speak so loudly about it but they will not just rise and do something about it. They talk big but will never act big, their actions totally contradict their speech.

What is it that you have been wanting to do but have not yet started? It is high time you rise up and run in the direction of your vision. What you want is in Zarephath but it will not wait there for you forever.

Did you know that if Elijah had not chased after his dream provision, that woman might have finished cooking and eating it with her son before he got there? Elijah got to Zarephath at the nick of time.

1Samuel 30:8 “And David enquired at the LORD, saying Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.”

When David enquired of the Lord if he is to pursue or chase after what he wanted, God asked him to. David was also told that when he pursues, he will overtake and recover, we can infer that if he chooses not to pursue he will not overtake and will definitely not recover.

Beloved, all you want is in Zarephath but you need “Zidon” to take it right on time!

REFINERY-3

REFINERY-3
1 Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”

…From yesterday…

Ephesians 5:26 “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,”

John 15:3 “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.”

The word of God is our cleansing tool. Allowing the word to work on us and refine our behaviors and character is our going to Zarephath. One of the most difficult things for many believers is yielding to the instructions from the word.

The refining process is tough on our mindset and most times not easy to accept and adapt. But, the truth is that any gold that refuse to go through the purification process will never shine! The word of God has the potency to purify a man because it has been purified too. An instrument that will correct error cannot permit error in itself.

Psalms 12:6 “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.”

Hear what Paul told Timothy:

2Timothy 2:21 “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.”

Beloved, each time you read the word and it points out your error, how do you feel? I know it causes an unpleasant reaction in you, but such is the cleansing process. Remember, God could have sent Elijah to several beautiful places before the commencement of his ministry but he chose Zarephath.

There are stuff that must be removed before our shining can be made visible. Peter said:

1Peter 2:1 “Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.” (NIV)

Those are few of the impurities that must be dealt with in Zarephath, why not take some time to pray about them and allow the cleansing by the word. Pass through Zarephath quickly so that your shining can emerge!

REFINERY-2

REFINERY-2
1 Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”

…From yesterday…

God took Elijah to a refinery to work on him first. A refinery is also a place where impurities are removed. One of the basic things that happens during the refining process is separation of the pure iron from impurities.

God found Elijah as a great material to be used for His glory but he needed purification. Impurities must be removed from him that could slow him down in the journey of destiny.

Any gold that doesn’t go through the refinery has very little value. Its real value can only come out after going through the heat of the refinery. I know you’ve found your purpose and vision but yet nothing serious is happening around you; could it be that you have refused to go to Zarephath?

Hear this:

John 13:8 “Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.”

Why did Jesus take the pain to “wash” his disciple’s feet before his crucifixion, resurrection and ascension into heaven? The same reason Elijah was sent to Zarephath!

The word “wash” as used here is the same word “purify”. Jesus was about to leave and he knew that the men he was leaving behind needed a purified feet before they can walk into destiny! He knew they needed a Zarephath experience for them to excel in the next phase of their assignment.

Jesus knew about the anger and spontaneity of Peter, the doubt and unbelief of Thomas, the shallow mindedness of Philip, the cowardice of John and so on. He knows that if those traits are not handled they wouldn’t be able to go far with the assignment.

So, how do we go to Zarephath in the New Testament era? Do we need washing of feet, going through fire etc?

Ephesians 5:26 “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,”
