EXCUSES-2

EXCUSES-2
John 5:6 “When Jesus saw him lie and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?”

John 5:7 “The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool; but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.”

…From yesterday…

This woman was born like every other normal child but fell sick when she was nineteen (19) months old; this left her blind and deaf. She then had to struggle and make efforts to educate herself!

Can you imagine what it will be like for a deaf and blind person to learn to read, study, feel, comprehend, and then write?

But then, Helen Keller became one of the most well-known deaf-blind people in history, famous for her political activism, lecturing, writing, and for being the first deaf-blind person to earn a bachelor of arts degree! Not only that, she became a very famous American author and educator.

Throughout her life, Helen Keller wrote books, essays, and speeches while advocating for numerous causes, such as workers’ rights and women’s suffrage. She worked for the American Foundation for the Blind for more than 40 years and travelled around the world to promote the needs of blind people.

When I read her story, I told myself that I had no excuse. If this woman could do it in her condition, I can do it too.

Friend, you have excused yourself for too long, and many things you can achieve have been left undone. You are more than this; you can do better than you are currently doing. The devil has been tactically making you suffer by helping you create “fantastic excuses,” but that ends today, in Jesus’ name.

Back to this impotent man; from the answer he gave to Jesus, I saw three excuses. He “beautifully” carved them, and with the speed he rolled them out to Jesus, he must have developed them over the past thirty-eight years.

The first excuse he gave was this, “Sir, I have no man.” I call this the excuse of putting the blame on others or looking for a scapegoat. This is one of the easiest of all excuses we give ourselves.

To be continued…
