Mark 8:24 “And he looked up and said, I see men as trees, walking.”
Mark 8:25 “After that, he put his hands again upon his eyes and made him look up; and he was restored and saw every man clearly.”
…From yesterday…
Jesus was not afraid of progress and betterment, which is why he boldly asked the blind man after laying hands on him, “Do you see anything?” Mark 8:23 (MSG).
Jesus knew that if it wasn’t perfect after the first touch, there was room for the second, the third, the fifth, and so on. Until the product becomes excellent, the Master was not ready to give up!
Progress is often achieved after much effort and trial. Come to think of it, God Himself never gave up on man after the fall. Innumerable Priests, Prophets and Judges were sent to help mankind and were killed, yet he didn’t give up on the plan of redemption. Jesus himself came and was killed in order to perfect the salvation plan, and God wasn’t moved.
The Father remained adamant until the one and for all sacrifice was offered. Friend, if God kept at it, we should too. That it didn’t turn out the way you wanted doesn’t make you a failure; it simply means there is room for improvement. There is provision for a second touch.
Let me quickly discuss two things about the second touch with you.
One: You can start small, but you should never remain small. Don’t rest on your oars and become a mediocre because there is room for improvement. Each opportunity you have to do something, give it your best effort, anointing, energy, and concentration.
Job 8:7 “Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.”
Zechariah 4:10 “They are disappointed because so little progress is being made. But they will see Zerubbabel continuing to build the Temple, and they will be glad…” (GNT)
Small steps of progress in the qualitative and quantitative growth of whatever you venture into will eventually add up. Do not think that the small, progressive steps you are taking do not matter because God is able to multiply the effects and give you an outstanding result.
