2Kings 7:1 “Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.”

…From yesterday…

Numbers 11:27 “And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.”

At a point in the journey of the children of Israel, God knew the work was becoming overwhelming for Moses, so he decided to multiply his leadership capacity. Guess what He did?

He took of the spirit upon Moses and gave to seventy other men referred to as elders. What was the nature of this spirit? The spirit that rested upon them was the spirit of prophesy. Those folks began to speak as well. They were practically declaring the word of God.

Here is where it gets interesting; there were sixty eight of them with Moses in the “church”, the remaining two elders Eldad and Medad missed church on that faithful day but right where they were at home they began to prophesy as well!

When Joshua was told that some men who were not in “church” are prophesying at home, he got disturbed and angry, so, he ran to Moses:

Numbers 11:28 “And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.”

But to his amazement, Moses countered his opinion and re-educated him:

Numbers 11:29 “And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD’S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!”

Moses told Joshua to relax, he then told him that God’s original plan and intent is for every believer or born again child of His to prophesy! In other words to forth tell! God expect us to simply take his word and re-echo it.

This is one of the most amazing things I have come to appreciate about our new life in Christ! This is what empowers the believer and makes the Christian journey very interesting.

To be continued…
