LACK OF FAVOUR-2
Luke 15:15 “And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.”

Luke 15:16 “And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.”

…From yesterday…

The prodigal son was begging to eat from the swine’s food and no one will give to him because there was no favour!

Once you start labouring without profit and men refuses to help you, check yourself; the favour component maybe missing!

At the beginning of the story, the young man approached his father, he told him to give him his portion of inheritance and instantly, he was given everything he demanded for. The definition of what happened there is nothing but divine favour!

How do you walk up to a man and ask for a portion of his inheritance while he is still alive and he gives it to you? The father didn’t question the young man’s decision, he just gave to him all he demanded for, that is favour.

Now, imagine that same guy asking for husk and was not given! Something has definitely gone wrong, and it is simply lack of favour! We saw something yesterday about our Lord Jesus:

Luke 2:52 “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”

The favour started with God then men. The custodian of divine favour is God and he is the one that compels men to favour us. When he withdraws or withholds his favour, we are helpless before men. A believer that wonders away from under the coverage of the Father is doing a serious disservice to himself.

When the prodigal son was within the vicinity of his father, he enjoyed favour from all and sundry. Everyone that covets the favour of the father does something good for the son. The servants willingly helped him, not for his own sake but for the father’s sake; unfortunately, when he left the region of the father, no one favoured him because there they don’t know his father.

When favour departs from a believer, it is a call to check the depth of our relationship with the Father!
