PIGGERY

PIGGERY
Luke 15:14 “And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.”

Luke 15:15 “And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.”

A Jew in a piggery is reminiscent of a believer who has completely lost touch with God and the instructions of the Father. One who has completely forgotten there is something better for him at home than in a far country.

A believer in a piggery is one who has backslidden. He is a person who has been washed clean by the blood of Jesus and given a new clean sheet, but rather than continue therein has chosen to return back to a life of sin and fellowship with the devil. Hear what Peter has got to say about it:

2Peter 2:21 “It would have been much better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than to know it and then turn away from the sacred command that was given them.”

2Peter 2:22 “What happened to them shows that the proverbs are true: “A dog goes back to what it has vomited” and “A pig that has been washed goes back to roll in the mud.”” (GNT)

So, a believer in a piggery is one that has completely fallen from grace and wallowing in sin, under the oppression of the devil. It is a very terrible place to be.

It doesn’t matter what happened, a Jew will never eat pork because it is forbidden:

Deuteronomy 14:8 “And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcase.”

But for the prodigal son, his condition degenerated so badly that he started working in a piggery and even desired the food of the pigs.

In life we must be careful so that we don’t derail and backslide. Those “little sins” you ignore are the little things that make us fall short of the grace of God. Don’t keep falling and rising daily as a believer, our path is supposed to keep shining brighter and brighter.

1Corinthians 10:12 “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”

That is a great counsel from Apostle Paul, don’t be dragged into the mud!
