FEAR GOD MORE THAN MEN-1
Matthew 2:12 “And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.”

These folks surely demonstrated qualities that made the Bible refer to them as wise men and another one of such is what we saw in our focal scripture for today. We were told that after being warned by God they departed to their own country.

The fear of God is fast wearing out in our generation and it has become very worrisome. Men fear men but disregard God.

Romans 3:18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

This scripture summarise the happenings in our day. Men will act anyhow and even tell you that God does not exist. When men speak they shiver but when God speaks they feel unconcerned. That God is not visible does not make him irrelevant or insignificant. He is still the owner and master of the universe.

These wise men honoured and obeyed God more than they feared men. Note that they had earlier met with King Herod and knew how powerful he is, but when God spoke, they disregarded the promise they made to Herod.

Beloved, who is more important in your life, God or men? Do you honour God more than you honour men? Whose voice is most paramount in your life?

Hear Jesus’ counsel:

Matthew 10:28 “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

God is the ultimate, he doesn’t just have the power to destroy the body; he can destroy the soul as well. It is God that created the man you’re afraid of, don’t get your priorities wrong!

King Solomon also advised:

Proverbs 29:25 “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”

The fear of man keep you in a cage or prison, it can keep you mentally, physically and emotionally drained. The truth is that when you put your trust in God, he’ll keep you safe from everything men can throw at you.
