DON’T PROCRASTINATE-4
Joshua 2:21 “And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.”

Joshua 2:22 “And they went, and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but found them not.”

Another reason why people procrastinate that is closely related to lack of desire is indecision. When we are indecisive about something we simply can’t make up our minds and as a result procrastination sets in. When we are yet to make up our minds on something, we simply don’t do anything.

We will postpone buying a car, cooking, choosing a career path, getting married, buying new clothes, getting started on a project and several other tasks.

James 1:6 “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.”

James 1:6 “Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind.” (AMP)

Indecision makes people unstable, hesitant and full of doubt, which are all attributes of procrastination. Such fellows will find it very difficult to take action. The earlier you make up your mind on issues the faster you kill procrastination.

Fear also causes procrastination. When we are afraid we put things off. Fear paralyses motion and stagnates a man. Many people don’t take action not because they don’t know what to do but for the fact that they are scared. Fear is a terrible thing and when it grips a man, it completely makes him motionless.

Perfectionism is another major reason why people procrastinate. If you wait for things to be perfect, you will never start anything because things will never be perfect.

Ecclesiastes 11:4 “If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done.” (TLB)
