Joshua 2:1 “And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there.”
Matthew 25:34 “Then the King will say to the people on his right, ‘Come, you that are blessed by my Father! Come and possess the kingdom which has been prepared for you ever since the creation of the world.”
Matthew 25:35 “I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me a drink; I was a stranger and you received me in your homes,”
Matthew 25:36 “naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me, in prison and you visited me.”
Matthew 25:37 “The righteous will then answer him, ‘When, Lord, did we ever see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink?”
Matthew 25:38 “When did we ever see you a stranger and welcome you in our homes, or naked and clothe you?”
Matthew 25:39 “When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you?”
Matthew 25:40 “The King will reply, ‘I tell you, whenever you did this for one of the least important of these followers of mine, you did it for me!’” (GNT)
Those folks met God and He threw some of them out and welcomed some others. This calls for curiosity and they began asking the King questions. They couldn’t understand why he would welcome some and discard others. It looks as if the King was not fair.
He then replied them, he told them that, he came to the two sets of people while some embraced him others also discarded him which is why he was behaving in a similar manner to them now.
Put differently, God sent them “divine spies” before their blessings could be released and their attitudes sent them away. They met the King in disguised form but were not sensitive enough to recognise him.
Friend, as you go out today, be mindful of the fact that the person you will meet in that taxi, bus, train or airplane could be a “divine spy”.
