SCAPEGOAT-2

SCAPEGOAT-2
Jonah 1:14 “Wherefore they cried unto the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man’s life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee.”

Jonah 1:15 “So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.”

…From yesterday…

Peter cut off a guy’s ear when they came to arrest Jesus and when the guy eventually identified him, he denied it blatantly.

This was the same Peter that earlier told Jesus that:

Matthew 26:35 “Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.”

Matthew 26:35 “Peter protested, “Even if I had to die with you, I would never deny you.” All the others said the same thing.” (MSG)

Even though Peter made all those promises he still went ahead to deny the Saviour. Sons of men can easily do the same to you when such situations occur, it is in the nature of men.

In contrast, Jonah was used as a scapegoat and was thrown overboard, immediately they did that there was a great calm. Another lesson we can take away from here is that what they did was exactly what was done to Jesus on our behalf.

In the case of Jesus, he who knew no sin was made sin for us. He took our shame, sickness, sins and guilt upon himself and was sacrificed for us. He became the ultimate scapegoat for us all.

Beloved, you don’t need to be used as a scapegoat ever again, the price has been paid. You no longer need to blame “Jonah” for the challenges in your life and destiny, you simply need to speak to the storm and command it to become calm.

You have this authority because Jesus has already been thrown into it! Storms accept sacrifices and the ultimate sacrifice they cannot reject is that of Jesus.

If you’re going through a storm now, tell the storm that the name of Jesus and his blood has been shed and sacrificed, therefore, it must cease. If the storm was quieted when Jonah was cast into the sea, how much more the sacrifice of Jesus?
