Luke 2:48 “And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.”

Our focal scripture says his parents eventually “saw him” after the search. The word that threw me off balance is the word “saw him”. The Bible says they saw him and were amazed.

That calls for curiosity. They’ve been seeing Jesus, he is their son, and they stay in the same house but seeing him on this occasion made them amazed or marvel. What can we learn from this?

The word “saw” as used here is translated from the Greek to mean, “to discern clearly (physically or mentally)”; “to attend to”, “to experience”, “behold”, “perceive”, “have deeper knowledge” and “take heed”.

I now understood their amazement. Friend, I want you to know that whatever you have known of Jesus is nothing compared to what you can still know! There are dimensions and layers in God. You can never know him enough. The day will never come when you graduate from the school of knowing God!

You and I must develop an insatiable quests for the knowledge of Jesus. His parents have been seeing him, but on that faithful day, they “saw” him. God is dynamic and knowing him is continuous.

Job 42:5 “I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.”

Job have been hearing about God but now he said he has seen Him. There is always a place of knowing in God. Until we meet Him face to face we will never stop discovering more and more beautiful things about Him.

Exodus 6:3 “And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.”

This was an encounter between God and Moses. He introduced Himself to Moses as “I AM”. Moses operated with that name and was getting results but one day, he had the above conversation with God.
