LACK OF WILL POWER-1
John 5:5 “And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.”
John 5:6 “When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?”
Lack of will power is a major problem in Christianity. Nothing can be done without the will of a man.
This man had been at the pool before Jesus was conceived and remained there till that particular day. This man knew the theories and principles of getting healed but yet remained there.
How can a man be in a situation for thirty eight years despite the fact that solution was very close to him? The only explanation was lack of will power. I want to believe there were people who got to that same pool at the same time with this man who had gotten their healing and gone home.
Thirty eight years is not thirty eight minutes, hours or days, it was such a long time. The people that got healed thirty eight years earlier would probably have been married, become grandparents and must have been fulfilling destiny, yet this man remained on the same spot.
It is often said that; “When there is a will, there is a way”. The will of man is so powerful that nothing can stop it once it swings into action. Hear this:
Isaiah 1:19 “If ye be willing and obedient ye shall eat the good of the land:”
No blessing will come to a man that is not willing! Once you’re “willing” to do something, energy is supplied for performance. I want to believe this sick man had become so used to his situation that he had lost the will to keep fighting. He had resigned to “fate” and given up hope.
Discouragement and persistent failure weakens the will power of a man. It also kills creativity and generates excuses for not trying again.
Some historians said, there were powerful men by the Pool of Bethesda whose job is to throw people into the pool. You pay them to get you in as fast as possible.
