Mark 5:18 “And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.”
Mark 5:19 “Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.”
I love the way our focal scripture described the freed man, “he that had been possessed with the devil”, it was no longer the same appellations used for him earlier:
Mark 5:2 “And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,”
He was no longer the man with an unclean spirit or mad man of Gadara, he has become a “former” demon possessed man. The moment he met with Jesus, his life changed, everything became new.
In the same vein, all of us that have surrendered our lives to Jesus have become “former” sinners, sickly, arrogant, poor and the like. We have been translated and completely changed. We are new species of creature whose type had never existed before. We are very new and unique.
When people see us now, they keep wondering what happened. I’m sure you can relate with it. Such is the amazing transformation coming in contact with Jesus does.
Why did I take the pain to go through all that? I did because one of the main reasons why Jesus saved us is so that we can spread the good news and “save” others as well. Jesus is the Saviour but we all are “saviours” as well. No wonder the Bible says:
Obadiah 1:21 “And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’S.”
The intention of God is for you and I to bring others into the kingdom as well. In our contemporary days this is called advertising.
An advertisement (often shortened to advert or ad) is the promotion of a product, brand or service to a viewership in order to attract interest, engagement and sales. Advertisements are often a guaranteed method of reaching an audience.
