1Samuel 16:1 “And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.”

God didn’t just send Samuel to any house, he sent him to the house of Jesse the Bethlehemite. God wanted to begin a new order and knew that the only thing and place that will make it a success is to first and foremost pay a visit to the house of Jesse the Bethlehemite.

In order to unravel the mystery behind the place, we need to understand the names.

The name “Jesse” amongst other interpretations means, I possess or possession; whilst Bethlehemite means “house of bread”. Put differently, God sent Samuel to the person that owns a house of bread. Is God interested in a bakery? Yes, but a different kind of bakery!

John 6:33 “For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.”

John 6:48 “I am that bread of life.”

John 6:51 “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

Bread talks about the person of Jesus; he introduced himself severally as the bread of life. We also understand from scriptures that Jesus is the word of God.

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Bringing these set of scriptures together, we understand that God simply sent Samuel to His word! He ask Samuel to go to the place of the word. God will never do anything outside his word and we all must understand this truth.

His word is his bound. Whatever He says he can do, He will do. Once you can lay hold on a promise of God as stated in His word, it will come to pass without fail.

God’s word is his modus operandi and modus vivendi. He will always do what he says.
