Genesis 28:12 “And he dreamed and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.”

…From yesterday…

A ladder eases your trip. It makes your journey simpler and more productive. A ladder also gives you direction. Once the ladder is in place, you know the direction and path to follow without gambling.

You’re sure that the building or the place on which the ladder is leaning is your location. Once it is leaning on a particular wall, your destination is set and your focus is settled.

The ladder then helps you to maintain that focus such that you can easily keep your gaze without wavering. Once, you are on the ladder you have clarity and you’re so sure of your destination.

The ladder also offers something very interesting, it helps you to take small steps with certainty. The ladder has short steps and layers that you take per time so that the burden of a long journey is removed. The short steps removes the cumbersomeness and stress of the journey.

Another thing that is very important to note about a ladder is that it helps us to overcome obstacles, disappointments and stumbling blocks.

If a ladder or bridge is set up over a river for instance, you simply walk from one end to the other without stress. You don’t worry about the things inside the river. There might be snakes, crocodiles, alligators and other dangerous animals in the river but the bridge has already elevated you above them all.

Your ladder will not just transport you, it will guarantee your safety as well, by making it possible for you to scale over obstacles that the enemy has arranged on your path. It makes for a safe passage for you.

Jacob was very smart and spiritually intelligent, note that he “set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven”, even though he was going to Haran, he started by connecting the ladder to heaven!

What does this mean?
