Genesis 28:11 “And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night because the sun was set and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep”
Rest is simply believing and trusting God totally and absolutely. Hear this:
Hebrews 4:9 “There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.”
Hebrews 4:10 “For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.”
Hebrews 4:11 “Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”
The rest of God is not a rest from work, it is a rest in work. It is partnering with God to do what He is calling you to do by His grace. Rest is simply believing in God!
Hebrews 4:3 “For we which have believed do enter into rest…”
Each time you release your faith in the word, you enter into rest. Any time you realize you are worked up, feeling frustrated, stressed-out with worry, fear and anxiety, it simply means you’re not at rest.
The above in any area of your life is an indication of restlessness, meaning you don’t believe God in that area. Faith is a confidence assurance in God. Once you trust God, he takes over from you completely. Once you find yourself rolling a problem over and over in your mind, you are simply not at rest.
To enjoy rest in God, go on a retreat. Spend extended time in studying the word and in prayer (especially praying in tongues). Confess the promises of God as well.
The opposite of rest is faithlessness and unbelief. The devil is an expert at getting a believer to worry. Once you worry, you lose your peace and stray away from the place of rest. Worrying is like a rocking chair, it seems as if you’re working but in reality you’re on the same spot.
That is why you must do whatever you need to do to stay at rest. Jacob got to that place, rested and encountered God. It is high time you rest as well and allow God take over from you!
