THE FATHER’S ORDER-1
1Samuel 17:20 “And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper and took and went as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle.”
The problem of many sons around God is that they want to do their own things. They want to think their own thoughts, make their own plans and come to their own conclusions.
Many people’s training, experiences and technical-knowhow have made them feel they’re superior to whatever advice they can get from elsewhere. Peter demonstrated this:
Luke 5:5 “And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.”
Jesus the Master, the Lord, the One that created the ocean, the fishes, the boat and even Peter himself gave an instruction and Peter was trying to justify why that instruction won’t work. Such is the plight of many believers.
A man that struggles with divine instructions cannot go far in the things of life. Instructions are the bridge between the present and the glorious future we so desire.
Why was Jesus so successful?
John 5:19 “So Jesus explained himself at length. “I’m telling you this straight. The Son can’t independently do a thing, only what he sees the Father doing. What the Father does, the Son does.”
John 5:21 “for in the same way that the Father raises the dead and creates life, so does the Son. The Son gives life to anyone he chooses.” (MSG)
Jesus didn’t come here to try and use his brain to create and do his own things, he simply relied totally and absolutely on his own Father. He knows how to function by the dictates of the Father.
On that faithful day, David woke up and simply obeyed his father; Jesse’s voice. He didn’t say he had his day planned out and will attend to the father’s order later, he simply got up and obeyed without questioning the order.
