THE CHAMPION-1

THE CHAMPION-1
1Samuel 17:4 “And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.”

Our focal scripture is probably one of the most popular stories in the Bible. It is the story of David and Goliath. It is a story of bravery, boldness, courage and amazing conquest. It is a story we can never tell enough.

I know you’ve probably heard the story severally but let’s meditate on it once again even as we rely on the Holy Spirit for inspiration.

Our Bible verse today introduces us to a champion from Gath called Goliath.

The word “champion” as used here has several meanings and I’ll like us to consider them. The word champion as used here amongst others means “desperately wicked”.

No army goes to battle with its weak, defeated and unmotivated men. Every army want to make sure he has his men in top shape. The army will also make sure it chooses the best of the best that can give him victory. Those are the ones we refer to as champions.

One of the champions of the devil is wickedness. The personality that was unleashed against the children of Israel was not just a man, it was a spiritual force of wickedness.

Wickedness means evil or something that is very wrong or very bad. Something dangerous, mean and terrible. Such was the force that was released against the children of Israel. When you look around the world you will see a vivid manifestation of this spirit.

Also note that it was released against the children of Israel. Israel represents three key things; a land, a people and the church. That you are experiencing an attack in any of these three spheres simply means a champion has been released against you and you must know how to stand in the place of prayer against it.

The devil means “the evil” and wickedness is a tool in his hands. But I have news for you today; every wickedness sent against your life, family, land, career, business and person will fail. Every wicked plot meant to stop you will not see the light of day in Jesus name.
