Luke 17:11 “And it came to pass as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.”

Luke 17:12 “And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:”

In our new meditation, we were introduced to the trip of Jesus to Jerusalem, but of particular interest was the route he followed. The Bible says, “…he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.”

As a student of the Bible, I discovered that this trip was a very dangerous one. Dangerous because it was like a death sentence. Jesus risked mob action by following this particular route. Hear this:

Luke 9:52 “And sent messengers before his face: and they went and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.”

Luke 9:53 “And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.”

Luke 9:53 “But he was on his way to Jerusalem, so the people there refused to welcome him.” (CEV)

Luke 9:54 “And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did”

Earlier on, he wanted making this trip following the same route but the people of Samaria refused him access. They literally threatened him if he dares pass through their city. His disciples were even very furious to the extent that they asked Jesus to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them.

Jesus had to follow an alternate route to escape a pending attack. Few days or weeks later, he decided to do the unthinkable and pass through “…the midst of Samaria and Galilee…” again. The same people that threatened him were still alive, it was the same route yet he went ahead inspite of them.

Here is the gist: Jesus will take any risk possible, visible or invisible in order to get our miracles across to us!

He will travel through hostile environments, inconvenience himself and do whatever is necessary in order to make us comfortable!

To be continued…
