1 Kings 17:12 “And she said As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die”

One of the devil’s major assault against a believer is hopelessness. Once he can get a man into that zone, he has won. The devil got this widow into that state and must have been rejoicing at the potential death of a saint until the prophet showed up.

In all situations of life, I have come to an understanding that there are no hopeless situations but men who think hopelessly. God will never bring you into a place where your only solution is death.

An understanding of that truth should give you enough encouragement no matter what you face. The Bible is filled with stories of God showing up at men’s wits end. With God never say never.

A hopeless man is one who has completely lost confidence in God. He is a man who feels so overwhelmed by the challenges facing him that he sees no way out. Hear this:

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

Genesis 1:2 “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”

Genesis 1:3 “And God said Let there be light: and there was light.”

I’m glad to let you know that in the beginning God Himself was confronted by an impossible situation, but rather than lose hope, he braced Himself up, meditated and turned things around.

I believe strongly that the reason those particular lines of scripture where the opening verses of the Bible is to show you and I that there is always a way out.

Our beautiful world and lives were molded out of a situation and occurrence that can be termed “hopeless”.

To be continued…
