1 Kings 17:10 “So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink”

1 Kings 17:11 “And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.”

1 Kings 17:12 “And she said As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die”

…From yesterday…

Here is the challenge, Elijah has touched something that no one can touch including God Almighty Himself!

Remember that this widow had had a discussion with God where God commanded her to sustain Elijah but she reduced it to only water. If the man want water, she will give but when it comes to her cake, it is a no go area.

Here is the gist; many of us have areas that we considered so sacred that even God cannot touch! These are areas we held onto so tightly and refuse to let go. Those are areas that looked like the proverbial “bird at hand that is worth two in the bush.”

I normally ask people that, why are they holding onto a bird when inside the bush they can actually kill an elephant!

The major problem with this believe system however is the fact that unless you let go of what is in your hand, God cannot let go of what is in His own hands! Trust me, his hands are bigger than yours.

My Bible tells me that he’s got the whole world in his hands, while you can’t even carry your own house in your hands. There is no receiving without a letting go. You cannot hold onto something and expect to receive other things at the same time.
