IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU-1

IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU-1
1 Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”

Here is something else that shocked me to the marrow in the story of Elijah and the widow of Zarephath: All the instructions and journey of the man of God to Zarapath was not about Elijah it was really about the widow and her son!

This miracle to me was more about this widow woman than about Elijah. Come to think of it this way:

1 Kings 17:4 “And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.”

1 Kings 17:5 “So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.”

1 Kings 17:6 “And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.”

When Elijah declared the famine, it caught up with him as well but God stepped in. God took Elijah to the brook Cherith and commanded ravens to feed him. It is said that ravens are the stingiest and meanest of birds yet God used them to feed his stranded prophet.

If God could do that, it will only be logical to think that, when the great prophet Elijah finished drinking the whole river, God could have commanded the water to flow again. He could as well use doves, eagles or even another set of ravens but of all the options opened to God, He chose to move Elijah to Zarephath!

Obviously, it was not about Elijah, it was about the “dying” widow and her son. God saw them, heard their cry and decided to visit them. He moved an embodiment of miracles to their domain, by name prophet Elijah!

Friend, hear me well; the plan of God is not just to bless us but much more to make us a blessing! Until we come to a place where we become distributors of blessings, we are not truly blessed!

To be continued…
