1 Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”
God didn’t just ask him to go to Zerephath, he said the one that belong to Zidon. The word Zidon means to “chase”, “hunt” and “take provision”.
Hear what a man of God said, “Pursuit is the proof of desire”. What you don’t hunt and chase after cannot be conquered. Elijah was commanded to go after what he wanted which was located in Zarephath. You must chase down what belongs to you.
What Elijah needed was kept in Zerephath in the hands of a woman, if he chose to remain by the dried up Brook he might have died there. What you need is somewhere, and you must rise up and go after it.
I’ve seen and met many people who desired so many wonderful things; they love God, they have great visions and speak so loudly about it but they will not just rise and do something about it. They talk big but will never act big, their actions totally contradict their speech.
What is it that you have been wanting to do but have not yet started? It is high time you rise up and run in the direction of your vision. What you want is in Zarephath but it will not wait there for you forever.
Did you know that if Elijah had not chased after his dream provision, that woman might have finished cooking and eating it with her son before he got there? Elijah got to Zarephath at the nick of time.
1Samuel 30:8 “And David enquired at the LORD, saying Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.”
When David enquired of the Lord if he is to pursue or chase after what he wanted, God asked him to. David was also told that when he pursues, he will overtake and recover, we can infer that if he chooses not to pursue he will not overtake and will definitely not recover.
Beloved, all you want is in Zarephath but you need “Zidon” to take it right on time!
