1 Kings 17:9 “Arise get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.”
Ephesians 5:26 “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,”
John 15:3 “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.”
The word of God is our cleansing tool. Allowing the word to work on us and refine our behaviors and character is our going to Zarephath. One of the most difficult things for many believers is yielding to the instructions from the word.
The refining process is tough on our mindset and most times not easy to accept and adapt. But, the truth is that any gold that refuse to go through the purification process will never shine! The word of God has the potency to purify a man because it has been purified too. An instrument that will correct error cannot permit error in itself.
Psalms 12:6 “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.”
Hear what Paul told Timothy:
2Timothy 2:21 “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.”
Beloved, each time you read the word and it points out your error, how do you feel? I know it causes an unpleasant reaction in you, but such is the cleansing process. Remember, God could have sent Elijah to several beautiful places before the commencement of his ministry but he chose Zarephath.
There are stuff that must be removed before our shining can be made visible. Peter said:
1Peter 2:1 “Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.” (NIV)
Those are few of the impurities that must be dealt with in Zarephath, why not take some time to pray about them and allow the cleansing by the word. Pass through Zarephath quickly so that your shining can emerge!
