THE WORD-1

THE WORD-1
1 Kings 17:8 “And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying”

In our focal scripture, the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite and he was given instructions on what to do next. At that junction in his life he needed direction more than anything else and the word of the LORD came.

The word came at the peak of a famine when everything around him had dried up. His source of sustenance gone, his food supply ceased and all his possessions were gone. How do I know?

1 Kings 17:7 “And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land.”

The Hebrew word for “brook” here is translated to mean: inheritance, distribution and possession. In order words, the great Prophet Elijah became broke by the brook.

Beloved, have you ever been in a situation where everything you ever had and believed in failed? As anointed as this man was, he came to that horrible junction or point of hopelessness. The future became bleak and dark. He doesn’t even know where the next meal is going to come from. Such was the plight of this great servant of the Great God.

But I love what happened next, “And the word of the LORD came”! He was an influential man and could have decided to use his contacts and connections to bail himself out but the first thing he did was to wait for the word of the LORD.

That is a great lesson for us all. When things happen that seems confusing and antithesis to what God has said, we don’t need to press the panic button, all we need is the word.

The word of God is an encapsulation of the solutions of God. Our Father will never abandon us, He is too faithful to fail. He cannot leave us alone. Resources of life may diminish but our God is called the Almighty, the many breasted One, the Great Provider.

He loves us too much to leave us to ourselves.
