Nehemiah 4:11 “And our adversaries said They shall not know neither see till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease”

…From yesterday…

Act 16:16 “And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:”

Acts 16:17 “The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.”

Acts 16:18 “And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.”

A young lady was busy following Paul and his entourage around, saying the “right things” but powered by the devil! You can imagine what would have happened if Paul accepted her and made her for example his prayer band coordinator. That would have been a disaster.

Hear what David said:

Psalms 41:9 “Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.”

David was one of the men that was badly hit by the enemy using this strategy. In Psalms 41:9 he was talking more or less about a very close associate called Ahithophel.

This man was his chief adviser who turned round to team up with his enemy. He eventually hurt David badly. It’s a bad thing when the enemy mix up with what we are doing.

Friend, be weary of this device of the enemy. Scrutinize your relationships well; they can make or mare you.

Jesus showed us a pattern for choosing our allies; he had an all-night prayer session. The funny thing is this, can you remember praying for 5 minutes before choosing that your now very close friend? I guess the answer is no.

Beloved, Jesus prayed all-night and Judas still sneaked into the fold, howbeit to fulfil prophecy but what about you who never prays about your relationships?

It’s high time we carefully pray and scrutinize our close associates, Selah.
