Nehemiah 3: 28 “From above the horse gate repaired the priests, every one over against his house.”

…From yesterday…

Ephesians 5:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Ephesians 5:13 “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand”

Jesus has fought the battle and won with a landslide victory on the cross at Calvary, very true, but the issue is this: He left us on earth as armies of occupation and you don’t occupy without strength.

Luke 19:13 “And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come”

Jesus has given us victory over sickness, disease, poverty and the like but why do believers still have those challenges? Those things still happen because our adversary the devil is still on the loose, looking for whom to devour. We therefore need strength to resist him and keep him defeated! Our fight is always from a winning position, never forget that.

Here is the tricky part; we don’t build strength in a moment of trouble, we must build it before then. Solomon has this to say:

Proverbs 24:10 “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.”

The truth is this: Challenges don’t make a man, they reveal what he is made of. Soldiers don’t train, build their muscles and learn how to shoot when a war is announced. They do all that before an outbreak of battle.

David didn’t learn to use the sling and stone the day he met Goliath. He had long mastered the act.

Friend, we are combatants and we must train and live ready. Don’t start learning how to pray and fast when you have a challenge, it doesn’t work that way. Inability to prepare and live ready is the reason why many people complain of unanswered prayers in the face of daunting challenges.

Don’t be caught napping, prepare! Enter the horse gate!
