THE FISH GATE
Nehemiah 3:3 “But the fish gate did the sons of Hassenaah build who also laid the beams thereof, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof.”

The next gate that was built after the sheep gate was the fish gate. This gate was so named because the fishermen used it to bring their catch in, to be sold. It was a key entrance into the city.

This gate represents what a believer must do next after salvation, which is service and evangelism. Once you have experienced true salvation, you must be able to share it with others as well.

We are not saved by works but rather we are saved unto good works:

Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”

Ephesians 2:9 “Not of works, lest any man should boast:”

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

Grace saved us so we can work and serve. The truth is that you cannot keep claiming in your “heart” that you’re born again without talking to others about it. Salvation is not just meant for you, it is meant for others around you as well.

It is the responsibility of a sheep to give birth to other sheep. Once you have entered through the sheep gate, you must show others the way too. Hear this:

Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Your actions go a long way in bringing others into the fold too. Immediately Jesus saved Simon and Andrew, he commissioned them to save others as well:

Matthew 4:18 “And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.”

Matthew 4:19 “And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

Entering the sheep gate is not enough, you must enter the fish gate too.
