WHAT DO YOU WANT?-2
Nehemiah 2:4 “The king then asked me, “So what do you want?” Praying under my breath to the God-of-Heaven,” (MSG)
When Blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus finally met Jesus, what naturally comes to mind is that he needed healing from his blindness but what shocked everyone was that rather than heal him, he asked the question; “What do you want?”
Mark 11:24 “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire when ye pray believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
You must always come to the place of prayer with a desire. Your desire is what you communicate to God. Don’t appear before God praying general prayers. Know what you want in detail.
When the question was thrown to Nehemiah, without batting an eyelid, he began to roll out his requests. He had them well outlined. Hear him:
Nehemiah 2:5 “And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers’ sepulchres, that I may build it.”
Nehemiah 2:7 “Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the river, that they may convey me over till I come into Judah;”
Nehemiah 2:8 “And a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king’s forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which appertained to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into…”
Look at Nehemiah’s requests; he wanted permission to go to Jerusalem to build, he needed security and he needed resources. Those are very daring things to ask a king like Artaxerxes.
Friend, in the journey of life and destiny, you need those three things as well. They are very key to the fulfilment of your divine mandate. If they are not in place, there will be chaos.
