1Samuel 11:12 “And the people said unto Samuel, Who is he that said Shall Saul reign over us? bring the men, that we may put them to death.”

1Samuel 11:14 “Then said Samuel to the people, Come and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.”

1Samuel 11:15 “And all the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before the LORD in Gilgal; and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before the LORD; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.”

Why most men eventually fails is that many refuse to grow into the role. They didn’t grow to occupy their places. Put differently, they didn’t develop the necessary capacity and wherewithal required to maintain the office.

Take Peter for example, if Jesus was to pick the head of the New Testament Church among the disciples, many will not pick Peter. He was spontaneous, raw and unlearned.

People like Dr. Luke, Accountant Matthew and Beloved John looked more appealing for the role but alas Christ picked Peter. To worsen the matter Peter went ahead to betray Jesus and led all the disciples back to the sea to start fishing!

Even the doctors, bankers, thought leaders and professionals among them all followed him. But eventually Peter proved to be the right choice. After the baptism of the Holy Ghost, the same timid, spontaneous Peter rose in power and glory to become all that God had destined him to be.

I want you to know that it was not the same Peter that Jesus met at the lake that Jesus left after ascension. This was a different Peter.

This was a Peter whose capacity has been developed, enhanced, polished and develop. Immediately the Holy Ghost landed on him everything Christ kept in him were activated!

Peter grew in the role, filled the shoes he needed to fill and became the rock that Jesus spoke glowingly about. He did what was expected of him and everyone including the other Apostles listened to him.
