1Samuel 11:10 “sent word to Nahash: “Tomorrow we’ll give ourselves up. You can deal with us on your terms.””

1Samuel 11:11 “Long before dawn the next day, Saul had strategically placed his army in three groups. At first light they broke into the enemy camp and slaughtered Ammonites until noon. Those who were left ran for their lives, scattering every which way.” (MSG)

In our focal scripture, something noteworthy is the fact that Saul and the children of Israel didn’t just rush out to battle against Nahash, they had a plan. Every step they took was carefully weighed and crafted, this is called strategy.

A strategy is a carefully devised plan of action to achieve a goal, or the art of developing or carrying out such a plan. It is also the science or art of planning and conducting a war or a military campaign.

In any endeavor in life and destiny, you must carefully weigh your options and device a plan. If you rush out against the devil he will likely defeat you hands down. The devil is powerless against the believer but he has crafts and wiles.

His wiles are simply strategy, trickeries and deceit. That is why you must fight smart and be strategic. You must be wiser than the enemy and always beat him at his own game. Hear something interesting:

1Corinthians 2:7 “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:”

1Corinthians 2:8 “Which none of the princes of this world knew for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”

1Corinthians 2:8 “The experts of our day haven’t a clue about what this eternal plan is. If they had, they wouldn’t have killed the Master of the God-designed life on a cross.” (MSG)

That was God’s master plan and strategy against the enemy. All along the scheme of God was to put the sin of the whole world on sinless Jesus, so that he can die on the cross, go down to hell, combat the devil, collect the keys of hell and hades and return power to the believer.

But, unfortunately, the devil thought killing Jesus was a great plan, he was ignorant of God’s strategy!
