1Samuel 11:11 “And it was so on the morrow, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the host in the morning watch, and slew the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it came to pass, that they which remained were scattered so that two of them were not left together.”

Beloved, there is a place where people fail in life. The problem is this; we must all come to that junction at one time or the other. No matter how gentle, cool, calm and collected you maybe life will give you an invitation to a fight.

This contest will be a determining factor in your destiny journey. There are only three possible outcomes; win, lose or run. Many people have been at this junction for a long time, some even died there. This junction is what I call the place of combat.

There is nothing you can do about it, there is a destiny determining fight you must fight. This fight show up in different forms for different people. In the case of Adam and Eve, it was the forbidden fruit and the devil; for Noah, it was the fight to build the ark even though it has never rained.

For Abraham, it was a fight with doubt and unbelief. In the case of Joseph it was Potiphar’s wife; for Moses it was confronting Pharaoh and for David it was Goliath.

For Samson it was Delilah, and even for Jesus it was the temptations of the devil. Every great man fought a great battle. Once there were two women at this junction, Ruth and Orpah. They were both confronted with a great decision, they had to determine between following their mother in-law or returning back to their village.

It was a battle between wits, emotions and faith. Ruth had a landslide victory and became the great great grandmother of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

We didn’t hear of Orpah again. I’m sure if we meet her today and ask her the greatest regret of her life, she’ll say it was not following Naomi on that faithful day.
