MEN OF SUBSTANCE-1
1Samuel 11:5 “And, behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said What aileth the people that they weep And they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.”

1Samuel 11:6 “And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.”

The elders of Jabeshgilead sent out envoys to herald the message of Nahash throughout the land and nobody could respond appropriately until they met Saul.

When ordinary men heard the threat of Nahash they only pitied the men of Jabesh and even wept. They were powerless even though they wish they could help. Friend, there are men and there are men. There are people that matter and there are ordinary men. Hear this:

Proverbd 22:29 “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

Solomon made us realize in the passage above that there are men called “kings” and others called “mean men”. Here, the wise king was not talking about titled chiefs; he was talking about men of timber and caliber. He was talking about the people that God has destined to help you and I.

Friend, there are men that can do something about your matter. There is a man whose voice can grant you favour. There are men who you will meet and all your problems will vanish. There are people who will not joke with your matter either they know you or not.

They may not have title or position, but they are so strategic that they can positively alter the cause of your history. These are men of substance and means.

Beloved, the reason some challenges in your life have refused to go away is simply because it has been before ordinary men. Those are men that heard about it but are helpless.

Israel couldn’t do anything about Goliath until the matter was mentioned to the hearing of David.

It doesn’t matter how smart you are, until you meet kings you will struggle. There are people God has delegated for your rising in life and meeting them is key.
