GIBEAH OF SAUL-1
GIBEAH OF SAUL-1
1Samuel 11:4 “Then came the messengers to Gibeah of Saul, and told the tidings in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voices, and wept”
Our focal scripture made mention of something very interesting. It says; “Then came the messengers to Gibeah of Saul…”.
Gibeah is the name of a city, but this particular city was called the “Gibeah of Saul”. But, the question is this; why such a description? While I was doing this study, I became very curious at this junction and what I found out literally blew my mind.
Hear this: The word Gibeah is translated to mean “hill”, “rock” or a “fortress”. While the name Saul means “earnestly”, “enquire”, “pray” or “request”!
Now, put differently, we can write that piece as, “Then came the messengers to the hill or place of prayer! Or better still, the messengers came to the hill or rock of Saul. The place where Saul prays.
In order words, they finally came to the place of prayer, where they made requests to God concerning the matter. Immediately afterwards respite came. Solution to their problem showed up. They finally did what they were supposed to do first; they prayed.
Hear this:
1Corinthians 10:4 “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them and that Rock was Christ.”
In the Bible, rock is synonymous to Jesus Christ who is also the Word of God. This teaches us a powerful principle of prayer. When you come to the place of prayer, you come with a rock, meaning you come armed with scriptures.
Hosea 14:2 “Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him…”
You don’t come to a place of prayer with the words of your ancestors, you don’t come with proverbs, other people’s words, and not even your own words.
The reason why so many prayers are not answered is because people come to prayer meetings with tears, pity and idioms. Those stuffs don’t touch the Divine.
There is a prayer language, which is the vocabulary of the Spirit, it is called the Word of God.
To be continued…
