FOUR COMPONENTS (DETERMINATION)-3
Mark 2:3 “And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.”

…From yesterday…

The question is did these four men succeed? Yes, they did! They succeeded because they were determined to. Determination was the answer to all the questions that popped up!

Let me quickly share with you two key things that will help us maintain our determination in the face of torrent of obstacles, discouragement and oppositions.

i) Set the end from the beginning: One thing I saw from these four men was that before leaving home, they made up their minds to get their friend healed no matter the cost. They were determined to get their friend to Jesus. That is the power of vision!

A man that knows where he is going cannot be easily dissuaded. Once direction is set, the journey becomes easy.

ii) Keep your gaze on the prize: After determining where you’re going, the next thing is to keep your gaze perpetually on the reward or prize. Once this is done, the price you have to pay becomes inconsequential. Any time discouragement want to set in, you quickly take another look at the reward. Let that become your motivation. Look at Jesus in this scenario:

Hebrews 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

It got to a point at the garden of Gethsemane that Jesus felt like abandoning his mission but he didn’t, he saw it through. Hebrews 12:2 showed us what kept him going, “what was set before him!” That’s the picture of the prize. Jesus obtained the greatest name in heaven, on earth and underneath the earth.

Someone said determination can also be called the “stick-to-itiveness”, I love that! Friend, are you ready to do whatever it takes to succeed?

The devil will throw everything at a man of purpose but determination shows how much you really want to achieve your goals.

Determination can be summed up thus: Not giving up!
