Luke 14:3 “And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?”

Luke 14:4 “And they held their peace…”

This miracle of healing the man with the dropsy is the last of the seven miracles which Jesus performed on the Sabbath. Each time he decides to do something on the Sabbath, he was challenged by the lawyers and Pharisees.

Their argument is simple, God has commanded that no work should be done on the Sabbath (Exodus 20:10). They always come up with this argument yet if their animal falls into a pit on the Sabbath, they quickly jump in to rescue it. They value the lives and safety of their animal’s more than human life, what an irony.

However, there is something they fail to realize, they didn’t know that the same Jesus they were accusing is the owner of the Sabbath. He gave them the Law of the Sabbath and reserves the sole right to change it without consulting them! Hear this:

Matthew 12:8 “For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.”

Matthew 12:8 “for the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.” (GNB)

Matthew 12:8 “The Son of Man is no lackey to the Sabbath; he’s in charge.” (MSG)

In order word, he owns the Sabbath day and can do whatever he chooses to do in it. Friend, I am glad to let you know that not only that, he owns every other day as well.

Any day you meet him is your day of deliverance. He is ever ready to help. He doesn’t have off days, as a matter of fact He neither slumbers nor sleeps. He is ever alert, active and on the lookout for our requests.

He doesn’t have preferred days for miracles. A man of God said, “People have called me for prayers while I was in the restroom, I prayed and God responded!”

In order words, you can call upon Him anywhere and anytime and he’ll respond. What a Mighty God we serve!

Friend, the Lord of the Sabbath and every other day is on our side, he hears us every time we call upon him!
