Strength! Courage!-3

Strength! Courage!-3
Joshua 1:6 “Be strong and of a good courage for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.”

…From yesterday…

Beloved, you display your faith in our big GOD by acting with big courage, fear notwithstanding! Hear David again:

1Samuel 17:37 “David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go and the LORD be with thee.”

1Samuel 17:38 “And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.”

Every time I read this account I cannot do but laugh. When David told Saul about how he defeated the lion and the bear and his plan to quench the threat of Goliath, the king was impressed.

Saul then went ahead and told him to go and that God’s presence will go with him but the king did something funny afterwards, he gave David his armour!

There are two issues here: One, if he believes God’s presence is really going with David why give him his own armour? Two, if he trust his armour, why not wear it and go confront Goliath?

I believe Saul had just one challenge, he lacked courage! Beloved, it doesn’t matter how much of God you know, you need courage to obey Him and take the required step. Hear David:

Psalms 27:14 “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait I say, on the LORD.”

Psalms 31:24 “Be of good courage and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.”

Courage is that secret ingredient that triggers the activity of the Divine around a man. Hear this:

Hebrews 10:35 “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.”

God rewarding and blessing you is not the problem, lack of courage is.
