Joshua 1:6 “Be strong and of a good courage for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.”
God promised Joshua His presence but then he told him to add strength and courage to the success equation. One would think the promises of God to Joshua should be enough, why ask him to add these two components again?
Friend, the truth of the matter is that everything God has promised us is a done deal, the only issue is that the devil and his cohorts won’t sit back, fold their hands and watch you take them on a platter.
Faith sure makes all things possible but we were not told it will make them easy! There is nothing God has promised you by grace that you don’t need courage and boldness to receive. Hear this:
Romans 5:17 “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)”
The word “receive” here is the Greek word “lambano”, which means to take or to seize! That doesn’t sound like a piece of cake, it’s rather a radical word. God has made great promises quite alright but we must take or grab them. In order words, reigning in life involves some element of “fight” and cowards don’t fight, courageous people do!
On the road to obtaining the promises of God, strength and courage are necessary qualities required to deal with stressful or painful situations. No man becomes great without pressing through his or her pains.
Courage is that ability which helps you to face danger, difficulty, uncertainty, or pain without being overcome by fear or being deflected from a chosen course of action.
God seems to be telling Joshua in our focal scripture that if he truly believes that He’s with him, he should boldly act it! I am yet to meet a man of God that has outstanding results that is not bold and courageous.
I’ve since discovered that God loves it when his children are daring.
