Joshua 1:1 “Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister saying”
Joshua 1:2 “Moses my servant is dead now therefore arise go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.”
In order for Joshua to go forward, God announced to him that the previous experience is dead and buried but then he must “arise”. Until you arise, you won’t be able to make meaningful progress.
To arise means to rise from a quiet, inactive, or subjugated state to become active or vocal. It also means “to happen”.
God saw that Joshua has become cold, inactive, subjugated and mentally defeated, He knew that if something is not done very fast on him, he will remain in that docile state, so He quickly ask him to arise.
Friend, in the same vein, God’s first instruction to us in 2020 is to arise. To make this year count you must quickly arise spiritually, mentally, emotionally and in every other area of life.
If you don’t rise internally you will never rise externally. No meaningful progress can take place in your life until it starts from your inside. Many people want to move on in life and make progress but are yet to understand this simple truth.
Don’t let anybody fool you with the popular idiom that says, “We will cross the bridge when we get there”. Any bridge you don’t cross in your mind will remain impossible to cross when you physically approach it.
Making progress has to start from within, it begins with a reorientation. You must change your thought pattern, empty yourself of the old mindset and embrace the new.
When God met Joshua, he was still seeing Moses as his leader, miracle worker and problem solver. So God told him to arise and embrace a new mindset.
In order to arise, you must work on your thoughts; meditate on God’s word and read books that can help. Learn to align your thoughts with God’s own and every impossibility will die.
