Esther 4:14 “For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

…From yesterday…

I want to us to note certain things from what Mordecai did; the statement he made to Esther and the prevailing situations around them. These are reasons why it seems we lack requisite help when challenges show up. I often use them as prayer points and I suggest you do too. Here are they:

1. When the threat came to his knowledge, Mordecai ran to Esther. He recognised the help of God that had gone ahead of them and by doing that, he simply activated the pre-installed and pre-planned program of God. Our inability to recognise the provisions of God could put us in deeper trouble. Mordecai ran to a source he knew was divine and help came for them. Friend, may we always recognise the people that God has “pre-positioned” for us.

The brothers of Joseph didn’t recognise him as their future helper and they sold him in too slavery. They even planned to murder him, how sad! Do you know many people are yet to recognise Jesus as an help sent ahead to save them from future damnation?

Prayer: Lord, in time of trouble, open my eyes to see the provisions you have kept in place for me.

2. Mordecai said, “For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time…”. This is another vital point. It is possible for Esther not to respond correctly. Sometimes the people that are meant to help us can refuse to act and take responsibility at those critical moments. Esther was already comfortable in the palace and nobody knew she was Jewish, so she could have “dodged” the responsibility but rather, she saw it as a divine assignment and swung into action.

I’m sure you remember the story of Jonah. God made him a prophet, prepared him to hear Him expressly and rescue nations but when the time came for him to act on behalf of Nineveh he refused. He even chose to run away.

Jonah 1:2 “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.”

To be continued…
