ENGAGE THE POWER OF UNITY-1
Esther 3:8 “And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is not for the king’s profit to suffer them.”
There is a popular slogan which says; “We are stronger together”. One salient lesson I learnt from the Book of Esther is that unity is a force that conquers everything.
When you engage the power of togetherness you bring the devil to his knees! Haman was the devil’s incarnate who wanted to destroy the people of God without mercy but then, he didn’t just hatched the plan, he actually saw a loophole and he exploited it.
He told the king something very interesting. He said, “…There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom…”(Esther 3:8)
He knew that as long as they were scattered and are not one, it will be easy to destroy them. Friend, anywhere you find yourself, don’t be a force of disunity. Don’t be the one that always dismantle the rhythm. Don’t be the one that is always against the flow.
There are people who are agents of disunity. They don’t like when there is harmony; they thrive by bringing disorder in the family, church and even organisations.
The Jews were scattered and dispersed; the devil quickly went against them and nearly succeeded until Esther stepped in. Listen carefully to what Esther said:
Esther 4:16 “Go, GATHER TOGETHER ALL THE JEWS that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish”
Esther knew that if the problem has been disunity, the first step to winning has to be togetherness. Before fasting and prayer, the first step was an installation of unity.
