Esther 4:16 “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”
When you keep your eyes on the reward, courage will well-up within you. Don’t grow weary and lose heart, stay strong and keep moving. Esther was willing to die to save her people, she didn’t just save her people, she was saved too.
Friend, stand in courage, even when it is not popular to do so, and risk it all. David stood against Goliath with courage and got the throne from Saul who lost courage. Don’t lose your throne because of cowardice, be bold and go after your desires.
Let your last act of cowardice and timidity be the very last. I love and will never forget the story of an American general called Lewis Puller, nicknamed “Chesty” that I once read on warhistoryonline.com. He is said to be the most decorated Marine in American history. He joined as a Private and became a General.
He is called the Hero of World War II and Korea war. He was a terror to the enemy; he was so feared that the enemy placed a heavy cash price on his head. He first established himself as a Marine whilst killing rebels in the dense Nicaraguan jungles.
In one of his most remarkable victories, he led his troop against a much larger force of heavily-armed rebels. Unfortunately for him and his men, they were ambushed. They were surrounded on all sides and there seems to be no way of escape.
Rather than surrender and die, he gave his most famous war speech to his men, “They are in front of us, behind us, and we are flanked on both sides by an enemy that outnumbers us by ratio 29:1. They can’t get away from us now! Great news, now we can shoot at them from every direction.”
